UV Laser – Leather
Our xTool F2 Ultra UV leather work, from fine-detail engraving to cleaner-looking cuts and future material exploration.
Made and explored with the xTool F2 Ultra UV laser

A material we keep coming back to
Engraving and Cutting Leather
We’ve used the xTool F2 Ultra UV for fine-detail engraving and cutting experiments with leather. We’ve established that it can cut leather with minimal charring, producing much cleaner-looking results than our CO₂ laser tests, where burnt edges and a lingering burnt-skin smell were part of the experience.
The workshop photograph shows the machine beside leather samples engraved with a bee design.
What we’d like to explore next
Different leathers, different possibilities
We want to explore how different leathers respond, from chrome-tanned to vegetable-tanned, and try further cutting, engraving and decorative approaches. Those comparisons are still to come.
