A4 and A3 LED toner prints · Lewisham
Looking for high-quality toner prints for Gelli plate image transfers?
At PM Makerspace in Lewisham, South East London, we offer specialist A4 and A3 printing using our OKI C844 colour LED toner printer, specifically selected for its suitability for Gelli plate image-transfer techniques.
We print with high toner saturation on Clairefontaine DCP White Paper, giving artists access to specialist printing without needing to purchase their own printer.

Why we chose this process
At PM Makerspace, our OKI C844 A3 colour LED printer was specifically selected for its suitability for Gelli plate image-transfer printing.
Unlike inkjet printers, which use liquid ink, the OKI uses dry toner and an LED imaging system.
LED and laser toner printers use similar electrophotographic printing processes, but the OKI uses an LED printhead rather than a scanning laser.
Toner-based images are commonly explored in Gelli plate image-transfer techniques, making this printer a useful resource for artists working with photographic transfers, illustration, mixed-media artwork and monoprinting.
By offering LED toner printing for Gelli plates in A4 and A3, we help artists experiment without needing to invest in their own specialist printer. Artists looking for Gelli plate toner prints can order individual sheets or small test batches.
One-off prints and small batches
Prices include VAT where HMRC applies it.
Individual prints and small experimental orders are welcome. The 50-copy minimum for A5 flyers does not apply. These prices cover printing only; you carry out the image transfer using your selected plate, acrylic paint and technique.
Specialist paper
We use Clairefontaine DCP White Paper in weights from 160gsm to 250gsm for our specialist Gelli plate image-transfer prints. Combined with high toner saturation, this gives artists a consistent printing specification for experimenting with their preferred transfer techniques.
Results may vary with paper weight, acrylic paint, gel plate, timing and transfer method. No paper weight guarantees a successful transfer. We plan to add comparisons between paper weights after documented testing.
A printmaking process to explore
A Gelli plate is a reusable gel printing surface used with suitable paints and printmaking techniques. In an image-transfer process, a printed image is placed in contact with the paint or plate so that some of the image can transfer to the plate and then be lifted onto paper or another surface.
Artists use different papers, paints, pressures and timings. This service supplies toner-printed artwork; it does not perform the transfer or guarantee a particular image-transfer result.
Toner and inkjet are different processes
Inkjet printers place liquid ink onto paper. The OKI C844 uses dry toner, which is fused to the paper using an electrophotographic process. Artists commonly explore toner-based prints for image transfers, but the response depends on the toner, paper, paint, plate and chosen method.
People also search for “Gelli plate laser prints” and “laser prints for Gelli plate transfers”. The OKI is not a laser printer: it is an LED toner printer. LED and laser printers share a related electrophotographic process, but the OKI uses an LED printhead rather than a scanning laser.
Before you send a file
Prepare the image at the intended A4 or A3 print dimensions. Use a suitably high-resolution image so details remain clear at that size; very small source images may look soft when enlarged.
Clear tonal separation can make shapes easier to read. Consider whether a colour or black-and-white version better suits the transfer technique you plan to try.
Some transfer methods reverse the image. If orientation matters, especially for lettering, check whether the artwork needs to be mirrored before printing.
Tell us that the prints are intended for Gelli plate experimentation. Paper and toner behaviour can affect results, and we can discuss suitable options for the job.
Experimentation is part of the process
No. Results vary according to the printer toner, paper, paint, plate, timing, pressure and transfer technique. The OKI was selected for its suitability for this kind of work, but we do not claim that every print will transfer successfully or that its toner has been independently proven compatible with every Gelli method.
Try small tests and adjust one variable at a time. We plan to add documented workshop observations as real tests are carried out.
Common questions
A4 prints are £5 each and A3 prints are £10 each. Both are single-sided prints on Clairefontaine DCP White Paper, 160–250gsm.
Yes. Individual prints and small experimental orders are welcome; the 50-copy flyer minimum does not apply.
Set the file to the intended A4 or A3 dimensions and use a suitably high-resolution image with clear contrast. Some transfer methods reverse the image, so check whether lettering needs to be mirrored.
No outcome is guaranteed. Results depend on paper weight, toner, acrylic paint, gel plate, timing, pressure and your transfer method.
